TED THAI is a seasoned photographer with over twenty years of experience in editorial, portrait and commercial photography. Ted's work has been published in national and international magazines such as Time, Vanity Fair, Stern, and Paris Match.  He has photographed an impressive array of celebrities and world leaders, from Tom Cruise to Boris Yeltsin, Meryl Streep to George Soros. 
In addition to portraiture, Ted has captured some of the most notable architectural projects of the past decades.  Ted works in a variety of camera formats.  He prefers the 4x5 camera for portraits and architectural projects, but also employs digital and 35mm cameras for projects requiring greater versatility.
Ted began his career as Richard Avedon's assistant in Vietnam in 1970. He came to the U.S. in 1973 and joined Time magazine in 1978. Until recently, Ted remained on staff as one of the few staff photographers on Time's masthead.   The breadth of Ted's work in Time and other publications is available for purchase through this website.   Ted is also available for national and international commercial shoots.  He is based in New York City.
